I thought that too at first, but yo...@ Christopher:
I thought that too at first, but you can clearly see at least the proximalmost two feathers inboard of both wrists, and their bases extend between the big patch of gastroliths and at least the distal ulna of the right arm (or the mid ulna of the left arm, depending on how they're superimposed).

I hadn't noticed the skin impressions before writing this post either! They're mentioned briefly in the paper but I haven't seen them addressed anywhere else. In fact a recent thread on the DML was talking about how the only dinosaur skin impressions from the Yixian were from the foot of "Dave". I'll have to update my drawing accordingly.Matt Martyniukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04220900229537564466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-140938929136406282.post-70798632152517375382010-07-19T10:12:21.167-04:002010-07-19T10:12:21.167-04:00I don't know that the specimen is obviously sh...I don't know that the specimen is obviously showing secondaries. To me it looks like it could be both winglets superimposed over top of one another but out of phase, and only primaries of both showing.

Never noticed the patches of skin along the palmer surface before, cool!Christopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01159108424094927362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-140938929136406282.post-22906153729288345482010-07-19T08:29:29.035-04:002010-07-19T08:29:29.035-04:00I read about this yesterday on your DeviantART; ve...I read about this yesterday on your DeviantART; very intriguing!Albertonykushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00345306530772709064noreply@blogger.com
