The horizontal-only pose was accepted because that's what the data tells us. Science isn't about finding "the truth", it's about finding out which hypotheses have the most support. A few weeks ago, the bulk of published support was in favor of the fact that sauropods could not lift their necks into the air. This new paper casts doubt on that. Don't go accepting this one as gospel either, we still haven't heard a response from Kent Stephens and crew, which is currently forthcoming.Matt Martyniukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04220900229537564466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-140938929136406282.post-48178833400212395182009-05-29T23:35:06.897-04:002009-05-29T23:35:06.897-04:00Good ol' sauropods. Sadly I am a very gullible person, but even stiil it took me a while to fully accept what so suddenly people are telling me is wrong. Like I said, very gullible. I need to work on that a bit.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-140938929136406282.post-91684228571590331182009-05-28T23:56:02.940-04:002009-05-28T23:56:02.940-04:00Yes, er... I too have had some Idiocracy moments. The best bits of coverage have been those where Mike or Darren could actually respond and explain what our work does and does not say. In the words of Brian Engh, this is our struggle.Dr. Vectorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01257878915555113427noreply@blogger.com
